1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated when you use Briv:

  • Account information: email address, password (stored securely by our authentication provider), and profile details from Google sign-in when you choose that option (such as name and email).
  • Email content: when you connect Gmail, we access messages using the gmail.readonly scope — read-only access to help classify mail and generate your morning briefing. We do not send email on your behalf or modify your mailbox.
  • Derived data: classifications, briefing summaries, preferences (such as briefing time and timezone), and usage signals needed to run the product.
  • Technical data: browser type, device information, IP address, and logs related to security and reliability of the service.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve Briv's briefing and email-triage features.
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • Send product emails you request or that are part of the service (e.g. briefings, onboarding).
  • Respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your email content to train public AI models for unrelated products.

3. Gmail and Google data

Gmail connection is optional but required for core briefing features. When you authorize Briv, Google shares access tokens with us so we can read relevant messages on your behalf.

  • We request only the permissions needed: read-only Gmail access for processing and briefing generation.
  • You can disconnect Gmail anytime from Settings or by revoking access in your Google Account permissions.
  • Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. AI processing

Briv uses AI services (such as Anthropic) to summarize and classify email content. Content sent for processing is used only to deliver features you use — not for advertising profiles or resale. Prompts and outputs may be logged temporarily for debugging, abuse prevention, and quality improvement in line with this policy.

5. Sharing with third parties

We share data with service providers who help us operate Briv, under contractual safeguards:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
  • Google — Gmail API and optional Google sign-in.
  • Anthropic — AI analysis of email content for briefings.
  • Resend — transactional and briefing email delivery.
  • Vercel — application hosting and infrastructure.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger or acquisition with notice where appropriate.

6. Data retention

We retain account and briefing data while your account is active. If you disconnect Gmail, we stop fetching new mail; stored classifications and briefings may remain until you delete them or your account. You can request deletion of your data from Settings or by contacting us.

7. Your rights and controls

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data.

  • Update preferences in Settings inside the app.
  • Disconnect Gmail or delete account-related data using in-app controls.
  • Email hello@getbriv.com for access or deletion requests.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA. We will respond to verified requests within applicable timeframes.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), secure credential storage, and access controls. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure; we work to protect your data and will notify you of significant breaches where required by law.

9. Children

Briv is intended for business users and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-app notice.
